Dr. Nicole Von Helms grew up in Bakersfield, California as a young girl with aspirations of one day becoming a veterinarian. Since her early childhood, Dr. Von Helms had dreams of becoming a veterinarian and working with animals to provide a better quality of life. Her continued love of animals and science throughout her education motivated her and kept Dr. Von Helms committed to fulfilling her childhood dreams, as she is proud to be one of our extraordinary veterinarians here at Stiern Veterinary Hospital. Some of Dr. Von Helms professional interests include general medicine, surgery, and dentistry.

After completing her undergraduate education having studyied Animal Science at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, Dr. Paulden went on to further her education at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Having graduated in 2018.

In October 2025, the team at Stiern Veterinary Hospital was overjoyed to see Dr. Nicole Von Helms step into her new role as Medical Director. This well-deserved promotion is a testament to her unwavering dedication and the deep care she pours into every patient; her leadership truly makes the clinic feel like a family.

At home, Dr. Von Helms looks after her beloved dogs, a Husky mix named Hagen and a Shepherd cross named Zyn. She shares her life with her husband and two children, whom she loves dearly. In her spare time, Dr. Von Helms enjoys baking, traveling, reading, and hiking outdoors.
